What to Do If There’s Limited Parking Near Your Store

According to this article, if people can’t easily find a free parking space within a few blocks, you may find it difficult to build up a customer base. Here are a few strategies for overcoming parking issues.

Offer to validate parking.

Focus on super-local shoppers.

Put directions and parking details on your website.

Lease parking spaces from another business.

Offer valet parking.

Personally, the best ad campaign I ever saw was one where a local restaurant paid the parking meter for people who parked within a 3 block radius of their restaurant leaving a little note on the window “Your $35 parking ticket was avoided by “business name here”. Join us for dinner and save an addition $15 on dinner for two. That’s right you just saved $50!
